Dusty Winslow was born in Pasadena, Texas in 1962. After he
graduated from high school, he went to work at an oil refinery
in Deer Park. There was some trouble, and he left Texas.
He wandered around for a while, got married a few times and
finally settled down in Hamilton, Montana in 1991. He fly
fishes, hunts, and hangs out at the local bar. He tells people
that his occupation is substitute fishing guide.
Since he doesn’t really seem to work, there’s a lot of
speculation on just how he can afford a 56 acre spread next to
the National Forest. Some say he won the lottery. Others think
that he stumbled across D.B. Cooper’s body and the hijacking
money. Rather than telling anybody about it, he just kept the
money for himself.
One story is he robbed a bank in Guatemala and carried a
suitcase full of money back through the jungle. Folks say he
snuck back into the United States with a bunch of illegal
immigrants and that he keeps the suitcase in a closet next to a
loaded 12 gauge. They say he’s still wanted by Guatemalan
authorities.
Dusty doesn’t talk about his past much.
